Mirissa Water Sports is based in Mirissa harbour, a beautiful and quiet fishing village in the South of Sri Lanka.
Mirissa beach is amongst the better known stretches of coastline Southern Sri Lanka, with clean sand, calm water and safe swimming. It is 40 minutes away from Galle on the southern tip of the island (Latitude 5Â° 58Â´ N; Longitude 80Â° 26Â´ E). Mirissa Water Sports is located on the Eastern side of Weligama bay, one of the most beautiful bays in Sri Lanka, famous for its white sand and the coconut palms which fringe the beach. The bay is protected by natural coral reef which makes it excellent for snorkelling, diving and sailing. Many surfers come to the bay as there are some exciting sea wave sites in this area. More recently kite surfing have arrived in Weligama.
In the middle of the bay is Tabrobane Island site for a stunning house on top of the tiny yet beautiful rock. Built in the 1920s by the eccentric Count de Mauny, it has subsequently been home to various luminaries, including novelist Paul Bowles, who wrote The Spider’s House here. Weligama Bay is a natural paradise for water sports enthusiasts of all kinds. To find MWS, you turn right off the main Galle-Matara road at the 149 km stone onto the Mirissa harbour road. Then follow the signs for Mirissa Water Sports.
